The JI soccer teams have continued their incredible seasons throughout the playoffs and now both the boys and girls teams will play for a South Carolina 4-A State Championship on Saturday.

The girls team will face the Catawba Ridge Copperheads this Saturday, May 15.

The Lady Trojans have advanced to the State Championship game after three playoff victories. They defeated the South Florence Bruins in the first round by a score of 6-0.

In the second round, the girls defeated the West Florence Knights 2-0. In their last game, the team captured the Lower State Championship by defeating the Hilton Head Seahawks with a score of 4-0.

This incredible postseason run has brought the team’s record to 21-1 and they have won 19 straight games. The girls team will look to make it 20 straight wins and cap off their historic season by capturing the State Championship this Saturday.

The boys team will also play for a State Championship this Saturday against the Eastside Eagles.

The boys team won in the first three rounds of playoffs to move on to the championship game. In the first round, the Trojans faced off against the West Florence Knights, winning by a score of 4-0. Next, the boys team defeated the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs by a score of 3-0.

In the Lower State Championship game, the Trojans won against the North Augusta Yellowjackets with a score of 3-0.

The boys team now holds a record of 15-1-1 and has won 14 straight.
Their great run throughout this season is only further highlighted by the two weeks hiatus the team had to take due to Covid-19 exposure.

The boys team will look to overcome the odds once again and bring home the State Championship this Saturday.

Both soccer teams playing for a State Championship in the same season is a rare and historic event. All Trojans support your soccer teams as they look to make history and bring two State Championships back to the Island.
