Last week both the boys and girls JI soccer teams won their final game of the regular season to capture the region championship.

The boys team played a home game against the Hilton Head Seahawks, winning by a score of 2-1 with both goals being scored by senior Travis Samatov.

This win gave the team an overall record of 12-1-1 and an undefeated 10-0 record in region play. With this win the Trojans will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The team also saw another rise in the rankings as they climbed to 18th in the nation and second in South Carolina 4A.

The boys team will face off against the West Florence Knights on Tuesday, May 4 in the first round of playoffs. They will look to continue their current 11-game win streak as they make a run at the State Championship.

The girls team played at Hilton Head, winning by a score of 8-2 with goals scored by Kayla McGary (2), Alarie Hodge (2), Taylor Hurteau, Alexis Spivey, and Lilli Ray.

The team now has an overall record of 18-1 and an undefeated 12-0 record in region play.

The Lady Trojans are now ranked 25th in the nation and first in South Carolina 4A rankings. The Trojans have emerged as the favorites to win the State Championship and winning the region was only the next step.

The girls team will play the South Florence Bruins on Monday, May 3 in the first round of playoffs.

Coming in with a win streak of 16 games, the favorites to win state will look to defeat their first opponent.

It is very rare to see two teams win a regional championship at the same time and all Trojans should be proud of how our soccer teams have performed thus far.

All Trojans have to continue to support the teams as both look to bring home a State Championship.
